One of the comments I get a lot lately when people see how long my work takes to complete, in the gallery is, “ You will never make enough money to cover your time.” I create because I love what I do. I do not start a piece of work with a price in mind. They take as long as they take. Don’t get me wrong, I love to sell my work and when I do it is a bonus. I do not however create a painting thinking that I must sell this. If I thought that way, I don’t think I could do it. It is the exact reason I do not do commissions.
This Sumatran tiger up to this point has taken 128 hours. After the burning has finished I add colour with encaustic paint. As far as I know, I am the only person who creates in this process. That is why I have named it pyrowax. Feel free to visit me in the Backdrop Gallery, I enjoy displaying my work and my process.

This one is taking a lot longer than anticipated, but I am still enjoying the challenge. So far it has taken 151 hours. I am hoping to finish this by the end of next week’
Although it is winter, it is lovely to have a sunny day. It is so much nicer being able to have both the side door and front door open in the gallery.
